Some of the RAYNET members are not pictured here as they were deployed on-air without having to go to the control point first.
In the Daventry group we pride ourselves on how
closely we work with our 'User Services' in this case the Red Cross.
We quite often share vehicles to make the event
more efficient.

As an experiment on this event we had a tape recorder
linked to the Talk through unit and recorded all the transmissions.
This was a partial success, the control circuit
was meant to turn on the tape recorder only while transmissions were happening.
This was to save tape and remove all the silence
periods between transmissions. Unfortunately the relay
was faulty and most of the tape was filled with
noise.
There was only one casualty who needed returning to the first aid point. You can hear it HERE (470K)

The Horse Trials
This event is always the lottery for us. Not that we get a fortune
from it but will the event take place and if so where?
We turned up at this years venue beside the A5 near Buckby Wharf knowing
that our brief was actually very brief!
We eventually found Margaret who confirmed USUAL.. We liased with starter,
time marshall and ambulance then away we went.
If you ask an organiser what they want they really don't know. But
if you provide the obvious solution with certain extras you know full well
that next year they will say "same as last time please!!"
This time Dave G6 EGO used his young A.T.C. Cadets to use the event
as a training exercise for radio operations.
With them using their frequency and us on ours things worked out pretty
perfick.
We had cause to use the First Aid facility on quite a lot of occasions. So
to be able to have a mobile beside them proved
a Godsend. And with a direct link between the time section and
starter a constant flow was maintained.A very satisfying event.
